A little about me. A graduate of the Humber School of Writing, my second novel, What is Written on the Tongue (ECW Press 2022) is shortlisted for the Saskatchewan Book Awards Book of the Year and Fiction awards. It was also shorlisted for the 2022 Glengarry Book Award.
The story is set in 1945 Indonesia where I was fortunate to travel for research (my gratitude to the Saskatchewan Arts Board and Canada Council) and I received the 2018 Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts Literary Award for work on this story.
My first novel, Dollybird, received the Willa Award for Historical Fiction and was shortlisted for the Saskatchewan fiction award. I have short fiction and poetry published in Canadian literary magazines such as Grain and anthologies such as apart: a year of pandemic poetry and prose (SWG 2021), and Gush: Menstrual Manifestos For Our Time (Frontenac House, 2018).
An active leader, teacher and mentor in the Saskatchewan writing community, I have a Political Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan, am an award- winning freelance agricultural journalist and a no-awards, but damn good, farmer. Our four grown children have flown the coop and I live with my husband near Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
