Shelly Jones
"Shelly Jones (she/they) is a Professor of English at small college in upstate New York, where they teach classes in mythology, fairy tales, and writing. Their research explores fandoms, analog games, and tabletop role-playing games. For the past five years, Shelly has served as an editor for Analog Game Studies. Their recent edited collection Watch Us Roll explores Dungeons and Dragons actual play from a variety of different disciplinary approaches. Currently, they are working on an edited collection entitled Beyond the Deck: Critical Essays on Magic: The Gathering and its Influences, which will be published in 2023.
Shelly's creative writing often incorporates folkloric and mythological elements. Their poem “Snow Child” was nominated for the Pushcart Prize 2021 and “Reflections on the Rescue of a Fawn” was nominated for a Dwarf Star Award from the Science Fiction Poetry Association in 2022."
